The Alexandrite is the gemstone for the month of June. The stone is cut excellently with great color saturation, and great clarity (eye clean). The stone has a great color change that is illustrated in the pics, especially in the side by side pic 1. This would make a great piece of jewelry.
Ask about other loose gemstones and other cuts, colors, and sizes. This gemstone is considered to bring love, good luck and fortune.
Since it is considered as a gemstone that promotes romance, it is commonly used in engagement rings. Natural alexandrite is rarer than diamonds and more costly than emerald, ruby, and sapphire.
Any alexandrite over 3 carats is highly uncommon. Smaller stones are more readily available to commercial jewelers. Pricing of Alexandrite is based primarily on the strength of the color change and the purity of the hue.
When considering shapes, Pear-shaped goods are quite a popular shape in the Far East. They are one of the best-looking shapes, and they provide a surprisingly good value. The unique appearance of the Pear Shape makes it suitable for a variety of jewelry. Pears are part of the half rounds group of shapes that also include Hearts, Ovals and Marquise. The Pear shape looks like a drop of water or a teardrop and is a combination of the round and marquise brilliant cuts. On one end, it has a round or oval shape, while the other half resembles a marquise with the sides tapering to a point. It usually has 58 facets, just like a round brilliant shape.
Because it is based on the 58 facet round brilliant, it is listed on certificates as Pear brilliant or Pear-shaped modified brilliant if it is a variation of the Pear brilliant. The first Alexandrite found were of very fine quality and displayed vivid hues and dramatic color change. The gem was named after the young Alexander II, heir apparent to the throne. It caught the countrys attention because its red and green colors mirrored the national military colors of imperial Russia. The item "Vintage RARE Genuine Russian Alexandrite 0.34 ct.
